Shona Robison MSP will today [Tuesday] bring her ‘Changing Miscarriage Care’ campaign to the Scottish Parliament – ahead of Baby Loss Awareness week, which takes place between the 9-15th October.

Shona Robison, who has shared her own story of suffering a miscarriage with the Sunday Post, will lead a Members’ Debate on the launch of the campaign, which is supported by the charity, Tommy’s.

The ‘Changing Miscarriage Care’ campaign aims to remove the stigma surrounding miscarriages, and open a conversation about the devastating impact that miscarriage can have on women and men, who can often be left feeling unsupported or scared to speak out about their experience.

Speaking in the debate, Shona Robison MSP will say:

“For too long, too many women have had to suffer the devastating impact miscarriage can have on them, without the opportunity, or the safe space, to talk openly and honestly and come to terms with its effects.

“There is still too much silence and shame around baby loss. And if through today’s debate we, as a society, find a place to talk about miscarriage then we can be proud.

“This campaign aims to break down the stigma of miscarriage, help to build greater awareness and more research into the causes and, in turn, provide the best support possible.

“The support here today in the chamber and across Scotland shows us there is need, willingness and support to end the stigma around miscarriage and work together to provide the care and support needed.
